Superior Window Repair Method
In Calgary, people have quickly learned that there is more to us than just fantastic customer service. We offer a superior technology that is stronger and lasts longer than our competitors. Superior seals mean longer lasting window repairs, sometimes years and decades longer than most other methods. Take a minute to learn more!
HOW IT WORKS
- The inside of the window is caulked to ensure there are no leaks from the inside and no moisture from inside of the house gets into the window.
- On the outside, tiny holes are drilled into the corner of the glass (top and adjacent bottom).
- A cleaning solution is sprayed inside and followed up with a drying solution.
- Vents are placed overtop of the holes to allow any moisture on the outside to escape but do not allow any moisture to enter.
- The outside of the window is caulked to prevent any moisture from entering where it used to enter.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- The window will start drying up immediately and you may see it clear up very quickly.
- Once cleared you may some fogging reappear and this is moisture that is left in the frame of the window being evaporated up into the window and expelled through the vents.
- Once it is completely cleared you will no longer see moisture inside.
- Your window will dry up in 1 day to a maximum of 3 weeks depending on the moisture leaked into your wall.
- We guarantee no moisture in your windows for 5 years and with the sealing techniques we use it can easily be no moisture for 10-20 years or more. To ensure maximum performance we recommend caulking and painting your windows every 1-2 years. Should any moisture appear in your window 10-20 years down the road you can remedy this by re-caulking the outside where cracks appear in your frame or where previous caulking has deteriorated.
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
We always want to provide the best service with the most helpful information. Here's some questions many people ask us.
How much will it cost to repair my window?
It depends on the size and type of window. If you can let us know the size (height x width) and whether it is a dual pane or triple pane window (you can test this with an LED light and count the reflections – 2 reflections is a dual pane and 3 reflections is a triple pane) then we can give you a quote as to what it will cost to fix.
What is your success rate?
After 4 years of operation we are at 100% success rate with no windows we could not keep fog free.
Do you ever have to come back to remove fog from my window again?
Sometimes we might get a window that does not clear up after 2 weeks and there may be another place water is getting into the window from. On second inspection we always find where the water is coming from and seal it up. Only on one window of thousands have we needed to come back three times (turned out to be a huge gap in the wall from the second story level seeping water into the wall).
How many years will my window stay fog free?
We seal up a window to last for 15-20 years if no one ever touched that window again. When we seal up your windows we can show you where moisture is getting into so decades down the road if you see moisture in there again you can reseal the window to last another few decades. If you were to keep your windows painted and seal up cracks in your window frame when they appear your window will stay fog free for as long as your house is standing and possibly even longer.
How much cheaper is this than window replacement?
That depends on the quality of window you are looking at replacing with as well as whether you are installing the window yourself or having a window company do it for you. Other factors include if you are replacing wood trim windows or if your windows are metal clad. This process can range anywhere from half price of new to one tenth the cost of new windows.
The Fog Guy fixed the problem that the other company couldn't. They seem to know their stuff a lot better. I wish I would have called them first.
